Today Tomorrow, The Video

So I’m still not 100% sure if I want to be posting this but here goes nothing. Click on the video area below to begin loading the video (Be warned though it is 40mb).

Whilst watching you need to keep a few things in mind:

  • We totally screwed the audio which is why it sucks.
  • There is a fictional interview with Samy (played by myself). I did this pretty poorly (tired) and is in no way a reflection of the real Samy (because we all know he is a god). Unfortunately, it was a bit impossible to get in contact with him and even drag him over to Australia for a college assignment)
  • We didn’t know the script well enough so you can clearly tell things are being read off the paper and off the computer screen (Samy interview)
  • Things were very rushed to get it done. I would love the opportunity to go back and film it all again – properly.
  • The assignment scored us somewhere around the 100% mark I’d say and we were credited (for a very student type amateur production which was basically last minute) very highly for our work.

“and ordered myself a burrito” – I will never live that one down.

Results – Semester 2

So, the results are finally in. I wish they offered high distinctions damn it!.

Note for the “Internet Database Implementation” module – you can only receive a pass or fail, hence it is “ungraded”.

So the assignment was due on Friday, 16th June and we managed to get it completed in time. I seem to have forgotten about it though – I had intentions of uploading the video however I’ve not had much spare time at the moment.

Today Tomorrow, The Production Set

So this semester at College, we’ve had to produce a 10 minute documentary or other video as part of our assessment. In a group of three, we drafted a television show which is a take off of Australia’s “Today Tonight”, called “Today Tomorrow”. In the show we take a look at the safety (well – insecurities) of MySpace.

Last night we got around to shooting the studio shots with our presenter. We’ll be making use of the green screen to use a technique called chroma keying to replace the background with a shot of Sydney for the final product. The studio was constructed in a class room with the green screens, a three point lighting set up (a fourth was added to help remove shadows from the screen), the camera and laptop – to record/pass through audio.

A couple of photos from the night:

TAFE is Gooone!

Okay, so yesterday I finished my TAFE course. All assessments handed in and everything sorted out. Best thing is, I think i’ve pretty much got Distinctions in everything (pitty they don’t offer High Distinctions though, because i would have had a lot of them too.)

I also received an email this morning in regards to my User Documentation assignment which was due on Friday..

Hi Chris,

Congratulations on your FANTASTIC work. You received full marks for your project. Total score for 3651A 99%. I wish you all the best for next semester. Colleen

C Anderson

I felt pretty proud about that. The assignment (documentation) on RedHat 7.2/KDE/StarOffice can be seen here Linux User Documentation.pdf (Requires Acrobat/PDF Reader, obviously)

In the coming days I’ll be writing a fair bit about MyBB and the changes tot he product we’re making in terms of input validation, security and things like that- there are some big changes we’re going to be making.

Go Away TAFE!

Okay, you want to know where I’ve been the past week? I’ve been doing lots and lots of annoying TAFE work which is all due this week. Right now I have two tasks due on Thursday and one due on Friday. Maybe after i’ve finished them i’ll upload them here.

The assignments i’ve had and still have in the past week (struck-out indicates completed assignments)

  • Work Efficiently in the IT Environment (Report + PowerPoint Presentation/Speech)
  • Project 2005 Nalocks Pty Ltd (Had to design database, spreadsheets, and lots of templates, plus PowerPoint Presentation)
  • Network Upgrade Proposal Report – (Report + 10 Minute Speech/PowerPoint Presentation)
  • Expansion of Project 2005 Nalocks (Automating tasks using Macro’s, VBA and things like user needs analysis)
  • Linux User Documentation (RedHat Installation, Overview of Linux, KDE Configuration, Installing and Using Star Office – All very detailed)

After that hopefully everything should be complete and I won’t have to go next week (the last week of the course) because it is resubmit week.

Right, now its back to stuffing about with annoying VBA.

In a bit of my spare time I’ve also been designing the redesign of the MyBB website and have done a small amount of work on MyBB Gold. More on all of that later though ;)
