Thank’s to XeroCool’s webhost the design is gone. They ordered him to take down the infringing design within 24 hours or they would cancel his account. Thank you to them.

Dear asshole at XeroCool’s Blog thank you sincerely for ripping my old layout and the CSS. Yes, you asked me, and I said no. That doesn’t give you permission to totally rip the layout and CSS of my old design.

Further more, you removed all credit to me:

You’re also obviously too dumb to implement your own header text using the CSS because of the huge white gap at the top of the page. Go and learn CSS yourself, cheapskate.

How do I know its my design?

  • Font’s, paddings and width’s are exactly the same from my own design. Oh wait, the whole CSS file is with tiny modifications.
  • featuredwork classes are from a portfolio page I was building.
  • .syndicate classes for tables are exactly the same from what I was using previously.
  • CSS contains my “now playing” album image code”
  • .toolbar_x classes are what I designed for MY code buttons editor I used to have on comment pages.
  • The comment “/*** MyCode ***/” is the term used to describe BB code in MyBB, I lifted the aboev CSS directly from MyBB and thus it is there too.

Obviously you’re also way too dumb to lift it and replace all instances of the code of my domain with your domain:

Oh also, there is a bug in your menu which co-incidently I was experiencing too. The “link” doesnt go all the way to the top - click down on it with your mouse and don’t let go - notice how the dotted border isn’t all the way at the top? It’s a bug. What a co-incidence it happens in your layout too.

Oh by the way, anyone else, feel free to publish this anywhere you like. These kind of people shouldn’t be allowed on the internet. They’re cheap and thieves. Watch out, you could be next.

    That’s no excuse to go and steal someone elses layout. It’s copyright infringement and you wouldn’t like it if I went and did it to you. You certainly have an interesting opinion. :rolleyes:

    The live preview works fine for me in Deer Park/Firefox.

    He removed it …. but now, is it me or does the current blog theme look a bit like yours except for the fact that it has a few things missing.
    The topic title on your theme, chris, has a number written ahead of it (on the index page)
    Its the same for him :S

    And your live preview isnt proper :(
    Neither is your blog signature (or is it supposed to be there :S)

    Peter: Indeed we do. :)

    JA: My current theme is Kubrick 2 (K2) which is the same as what XeroCool is using. I’ve customised mine using the k2-scheme.css to change a few things around - that’s why they’re similar. XeroCool’s layout is actually a ripped copy of the one that Michael is using over at Binary Bonsai - the guy who develops K2.

    I see what you mean with the live preview right now too - it’s happening in Firefox but not Deer Park.

    I’ll have to have a look into it and find out if it’s my problem or it’s something within K2.

    Yes, It is ripped. And I contacted him about it. He wont be using it anymore since he will be having another re-design…And I didnt rip the colors or anything, I changed that. I just simply modified the colors.

    I wouldnt just go and rip a layout, especially if the creator had told me that I wasnt to use it. I mean, c’mon, if you had worked and worked on something, then just had it ripped and used somewhere else without permission, wouldnt you be so mad? I know I would be.     I think what XeroCool did makes it easy to consider him an asshole. Chris’ post was a bit fiery, but mine would probably be, too.

    However, I think some of the responses are starting to go a bit too far. XeroCool needs a good figure to look up to, not a good lashing :P Although it does not excuse his actions, to me they show that he looks (or looked) up to Chris. After all, he did choose Chris’ site to take layouts from and use. First Chris’ v2.5 and then Michael’s K2, which was probably first seen by XeroCool here.

    I am ignorant about many things, but I believe it was clear from my posts that I know that K2 is a WP theme. However, your own words make it seem liked you ripped it from Chris’ site instead of getting it from the distributor (Michael):

    Funny thing is, you did more than copy his CSS file. Look at the bottom of your page and see who’s name is in the copyright. Seems like a rip :P

    I wanna defend XeroCool. That’s how you make site - you find something you like, and do the same. Why reinvent the wheel? You could be flattered instead of getting angry.

    That’s just what the web is like - if you don’t want your stuff to get ripped, then keep it on a standalone PC that is never connected to the internet and never show a soul.

    You’ve got to be kidding me. 8-).

    You don’t go around ripping peoples layouts. If you’re inspired by a layout then you create your own using the ideas from it - you certainly don’t rip the entire CSS and markup.

    Have you heard of theft and copyright? I very much doubt it.

    It’s not what the internet is like - it’s what a small population of the internet is like who obviously have none of their own creativity to design their own layout so they are low enough to rip someone elses.
