You can’t refuse the deal I got with this copy of OSX Tiger so I took it. Although I am planning on getting a Mac in the near future.

I will probably get a Mini for the shear reasons of price and desk space (somewhat very limited already). I’d of course get it upgraded to 512mb of RAM. Right now I might have a play around with it in Cherry OS.

I’ve never actually owned a Mac, sure I’ve used them but only in production environments (such as for professional video editing). I never really saw the benefits (or the light) of having one at home because of contributing factors such as compatibility with everything else I use. Michele, and others however, have changed my perceptions on that.

I’ve always been a PC user, and there is no denying it, I will always be one - but I do have a growing interest in Mac’s too. :)

I too am a PC user, but funny enough I had been reading up on Tiger the day before Chris posted that he got it. Now I am jealous ;-) Someone at school mentioned that the new Mac OS (I think all version X) is Unix based… I am not much of a Linux person but it sounds interesting to me. Let me know if you like it… once (if) you get a Mac :-P

My conversion to Firefox was actually an interesting story. Perhaps i’ll write about it sometime soon. In summary, I tried every browser and couldn’t stop myself from using IE because the other browsers lacked in something. One day I was using Firefox and then I got in to the habbit of using it all the time - eventually setting it as my default browser.

Pitty that didn’t happen with me using Outlook and trying to switch to Thunderbird. But it doesn’t contain some of the features I use..

Lol, I hate Mac. Im like paulOr, Im a PC user. I cannot use Firefox, its unnatural to me.

You’re evil Dane! What is to hate about a Mac apart from you aren’t used to it and you’ll have to find replacements for the software you use? They have sexy ass cases, monitors and accessories!

Trust me Dane, if at all, switch to Firefox -the transition is easy and shouldn’t make much of a difference apart from it’s standards compliance.

Someone at school mentioned that the new Mac OS (I think all version X) is Unix based… I am not much of a Linux person but it sounds interesting to me. Let me know if you like it… once (if) you get a Mac

Yep, since OS X (X for Unix ;)) Apple’s OS is based on Unix. Further reading:

    I always thought X was for 10 :O

Correct me if i’m wrong, but 10 was when Unix was introduced. Other versions were simply called MAC OS9 etc.

    Dane Smith (May 4th, 2005, 8:27 am)

lol, Chris ;), The Macs that still are at my school (most are gone now, replaced with PCs ;)) are the BIG HUGE original ones with the Original Mac OS on it :P.

As for Firefox, i’ve tried it, and I dont like it download manager or how it loads the images and things :P. Although it is prolly more secure than IE — I’ll wait for IE7 :D.

When are you going to put up your new blog theme? You said 2-3 days about a week ago ¬_¬

    Chris Boulton (May 4th, 2005, 8:33 am)

    IE7 won’t support standards compliance either - that’s already announced ;).

The new theme will be coming soon. I’ve had to write my own menu design functions supporting the page system so I can highlight and show menu’s based on which page you are on (will be showing 2 levels of menus at the top). It was a pain to get to work. I’ve got to iron out a few small issues with linking to pages, then iron out the kinks in the design.

    Congrats Chris!

“You can’t refuse the deal I got with this copy of OSX Tiger so I took it. Although I am planning on getting a Mac in the near future.”

Impulsive consumer? :D That doesn’t make much sense, but well, if you are happy then it’s OK :P

“Correct me if i’m wrong, but 10 was when Unix was introduced. Other versions were simply called MAC OS9 etc.”

Well, yeah. X is used as a “number-pun” with uniX and with the roman number ten. X stands for 10, of course, but it’s the Unix significance what moved them into now releasing Mac OS 10.4 instead of Mac OS 14.

“The Macs that still are at my school (most are gone now, replaced with PCs ) are the BIG HUGE original ones with the Original Mac OS on it”

What the hell.. you mean the first iMacs from the late 90s? How are those huge?? How are those “the original” Macs? The “original” mac is from 1984, and that “original mac os” you talk about was version 9 of it :P

Chris, What happened to your old template? I Can convert it to WP 1.5 if you like. Just post at my blog :).

Read about what is happening (slowly) here: Upgraded to WordPress 1.5

    Chris Boulton (May 10th, 2005, 10:32 pm)

Oh and as for converting my old template - no thanks, plus with the structure I was using it is near impossible to convert that template to 1.5 whilst retaining the same code so that justifies a complete rewrite.
