Comment Blacklist Killing my Blog?

As it would seem, the comment blacklist feature of WordPress is killing my blog! Every single comment that was posted was automatically deleted. Why? I have no idea as it looks as though it was setup how it should have been but the second I cleared the list I could post comments.

I’ve removed it for now, placed the contents of the list in to the moderation keywords. Hopefully that will have fixed it. As for the comments, no way to retrieve them.

Heres the word list I was using (Tom’s):

Actually, there should be a way to restore them: Wordpress 1.5 marks spam messages as spam, so if you look in your DB, or you use a plugin such as the one from Chris.

    I hope it helps…

Well, congratulations on getting the comments working again, but have you thought of the implications on your Google listings of posting that list here are going to be? :P

    Michele,

Well this was reported in a bug on the WP bug tracker. Wasn’t able to find a diff to patch it though or work out what was changed. Thing is though, I don’t want to go through and manually restore every comment which is decent that was marked as spam, for the different people who could possibly post comments here - considering I got hammered with 127 stupid spam comments last night.

Anyway, thanks for the idea Michele, just restored those comments via phpMyAdmin - might as well install Chris’s plugin as it could become handy too.

Your Gravatar seems to be dead on this site too, I think i’ll look in to that.

    Thanks..

    Lobster,

    No, not really :P
