Personally I blame it on Microsoft, for predominantly sticking to blue with their Windows interfaces, which makes blue so easy to coordinate. I first had them up the top right next to the title, but that looked too much like a rip off of the Bonsai and I wanted to add the words "Comments" somewhere and they looked out of place right next to the title.
