Welcome to 2.5!

What first started as me playing around trying to create a Christmas stylesheet for here, quickly turned in to a bit of a redesign. Not enough in my mind to call it version 3 (That will be coming when I upgrade to WordPress 1.3), but enough to call it 2.5. Most of the changes were simply CSS changes, as well as the actual images for the logo, menu and the side bar.

For this layout, I decided to step a bit out of my comfort zone of the usual blue layout, wanting to try something a little different to blue which I have always seemed to stick to when designing sites.

Hope you like it..

I like it :D I particularly like the logo. It reminds me of Charlie and Chocolate Factory.. Or atleast the font does.. Yes it really does look nice :)

He he…putting the number of comments near the title like binarybonsai? I loved the idea, too, and I think I’ll use it in my blog, too, sooner or later…
I was addicted to blue as you were, and changing color has been a great experience! ;) I didn’t think I could manage to do a nice non-blue layout, but I guess I did. And you did to! I like it…

Shhh.. I first had them up the top right next to the title, but that looked too much like a rip off of the Bonsai and I wanted to add the words “Comments” somewhere and they looked out of place right next to the title.

I think it looks nice, and it allows better “flowage” of the posts too, without a distraction.

Thanks for the comments, though KnightieBoy, still trying to work out where you got that idea from - I even asked DXtremz and he couldn’t work it out :p

    Looking good :)
I’m totally with you on the ‘comfort zone’ that blue seems to pose. Personally I blame it on Microsoft, for predominantly sticking to blue with their Windows interfaces, which makes blue so easy to coordinate. I think you’ve very much succeeded :)

A tabindex for the Say It button after the textarea would still be nice ;)

Looking good, surfi. I agree that that blue seems to be a confort zone for alot of people, even me. But it is kind of hard to make a bad blue layout. I’m also trying to do a redesign of my site, and running into issues. keep up the good work.

By the way, are you gonna release your gallery script? it would be really kool to have one that integrated so nicely with my site ;);)*nudge**nudge*

Lobster: Sure, i’ll fix it up tonight when i’m working on a new portfolio/work page.

Bach: I do plan to release it some time, but only to my friends - which means you will get a copy. I have to tidy it up a bit, change some things around and maybe finish off some of the features. Pretty much, at the click of a button, you’ll be able to integrate it into using the Wordpress system, bBlog, or leave it standalone.

Not a bad upgrade. You said you are using the WP backend for this site? I must say that the upgrades are pretty extreme on the Comments page.
