Today, I went to the school canteen for the last time ever. I went to my IPT room for the last time ever. Today, was the last time I would probably get to speak to alot of people face to face. Today was the second last day of my school career forever.
When I was younger my parents always used to try and tell me that school is one of the best parts of your life because you get to socialise with all of your friends and peers. Meet new people, have new experiences, and really show everyone who you were. Its a part of your character. I always used to shoot them down by saying how they were wrong. Maybe I was wrong. I know now, that as my whole schooling career pretty much draws to a close, that it has been one of the best times of my life. I’ve made so many friends, met so many people, and despite the whole learning process, I have had an unforgetable and fun experience. One to be treasured, not forgot. 12 years of my life in school - it feels like its gone so quick! Too quick for my liking actually.
I’m not going to try and name all of my friends here, for the list would go on and on. I want to do name a few however, really good friends of mine who I consider to be at the top of the list. Why don’t we start at the “cool” group.. Milla, Dean (Doc! I have a problem!), Happy, Joel Serena, Barry, Chivers and last but not least, Whitbread and Big O who followed with me through primary school, and I have known for most of my life. Moving on towards the more “nerd” (apparently, but in my mind we are indeed the cool group) group of people we have Matt D, Pradeep, Joel Warren, Wiley, Jeff, Carl, Shaggy, Lucas, Kirby, Rabs, Nick, Coxy, Fry, Jess J, Rafki, Ellie, Shereena, Tiz, Josh, Jenna, Ryan, Brad, Grigg. All of those I missed too. You’re all wonderful people and great friends. School would not have been half as good if you weren’t there, so thank you so much.
The last week of school has been really fun, huh guys? We got up to some “naughty” stuff. We have had loads of fun. We tried our best to make it the best possible last few days of school we could have. We wanted to make sure we were remembered and not forgotten. Whats more, I think we succeeded. Go class of ‘04 at PHHS!
Going back to Monday. Cross dressing day?! I’m sorry, but there was no way I was participating in that act thanks Coxy. I don’t particularly want to go around school wearing a dress. Let alone another persons dress. You did a fine job of it yourself buddy, you deserve to be congratulated for having the “balls” to do something like that. Well done to you, and the others who had enough guys to do something like that. I wish I did take my camera though.. Could have taken some photos which i’m sure you would love to see at a reunion further down the track, hehe..
Silly hat and shoe day? That would be tuesday of course. There were some classic outfits, not to be outdone by those on Wednesday too! Hats were everything from Sobrero’s (I wore one!), Bundo hats (Yes shaggy, thats you), Angel halo’s, and all of the other things like the clown hats, and those other neat hats you can pick up. Shoes weren’t a really popular thing with people wearing thongs, high heals, their normal school shoes and even a few people with thse awesome inflatable shoes! They were cool! Anyone know where to get them? We didn’t really go to class that day. We spent the day signing each others shirts, talking, and having fun. Some of us later that night attended the Physics excursion (see the post before this one) and we had even more fun there. Fry, I gave that purple flower thingy back to you, didn’t I? Matt, where is the love?! You should have been wearing one of your classy top hats or something! hehe
Wednesday. Oh, don’t get me started on Wednesday. Early Wednesday morning we returned back to the school from our Physics excursion (about 12am). As we walked back up the car we saw some security guards arive to watch over the school making sure we didn’t attempt to do anything stupid. People had planned to sleep over at the school in the quad. That idea was quickly shot down and the idea was for people just to arrive early in the morning and setup tents and have a barbeque in the quad. People showed up at school at 5am to be told by the security guards to leave. Little did the security guards know but our “tactical watch squad” was keeping an eye on them too and at 7am when they left, the people moved back in. But wait! More drama (-_-). As they setup camp in the quad, the cleaner (Dave) came around and warned them that the principal would be there at 8am and to be out of there by then. People began wrapping industrial strength glad wrap around the poles of the school (I swear, thats becoming like a tradition). It was quickly removed by the cleaner and principal when she arrived. Everyone was at the school “legged it” to Miranda when she arrived.
I met up with everyone in Miranda (well, okay, about 6 people) as they wanted to go find some more camo gear, and buy some guns or water pistols. I was dressed 70’s style, disco with this fluro pink shirt on. I was scared I was going to get bashed!
We bought some stuff, and some water pistols and headed back over the the school. Once at the school we took afew group photo’s of us looking awesome in our gear. Hey, look on the right over there, try and find me! Guess who everyone else is too! (Click to enlarge it)
Our plan was simple, we even had the co-operation of the principal on this one too! We were going to take over the assembly and host ourselves a dance/farewell party in our bootiful disco outfits! Thanks to some awesome DJing by Chris K we were under way. We had our party too, lots of fun
I have some pictures of that, I think they should show up below. Click them for a full (well better) sized version). We weren’t going to let ourselves be forgotten, well, atleast not easily be forgotten.
After that we bought on the water bomb fights, we whipped out our water pistols and we all ended up saturated and being told to leave the school. We just went down on to the oval, and had a great time down there. Some ended up covered in shaving cream. Got ya Fry! Although I didn’t deserve it back
Others (who shall remain nameless *cough*Doust*cough* went to class). We were still soaked so we lived it up in the sun until we finally left for home.
Today was actually “sort of” back to a normal school day where everyone was in their school uniform (*cough* Except for Doust *cough). We didn’t go to class. We stayed outside the whole day and signed each others shirts with memorable quotes. Let me dig my shirt out and put afew in here for you..
- Good on ya mo! Keep it up with those cool outfits! — Lucas (In reference to my awesome pink shirt!)
- We are the choices that we make. — Mrs Harvey (Think about it)
- Mo, you’re a bastard but I still luv ya — Joel S (Weird, coming from a guy)
- Hey Chris, remember the rumours about me in bed are true. Luv Jenna — Jenna
- Hey mo. It was great knowin ya - great job with all the musicals - I know as actors drove you insane at times. Have a good one. Ryan (Shit!) — Ryan (Yes, they did!)
- Mo! Looking forward to many years of tech support! — Coxy
- Chris, well what can I say. Would never have passed computer studies and IPT without all your help. Sorry for the nagging. Haha.. Best of luck — Carl
- Hey mo. 1 of the 3 stooges. Oh i’ll miss those good old geography days. Don’t miss me 2 much. Luv always — Louise
- Dear Mo, best of luck. Keep smiling :). Pink rox! Have a good one
Love always.. — Fry
There are many more comments on my shirt, those are just a select few. Thanks to everyone who has signed my shirt. I will treasure it. So many of you wished me good luck to the future. I can only wish you all the same. Its been most memorable.
We moved on to Shelly park near the beach in the afternoon today. Not many people first arrived when we were there but it was great to see lots of faces, even possibly for the last time. We didn’t stay that long as the wind came up.
When you’re young, all you seem to do is bag school and say how crap it is. Its exactly the opposite really. Sure, you may not like the learning aspects but when else are you going to get an opportunity like that to associate with all of your peers? Probably not again. Its sad to see that its actually over (can I say that?). It’s just gone too quick. Too quick for my liking. You’ve all been wonderful to me in many ways.
I promised you all too that I would put up a nice big photo gallery for us (and incldue a lot of the pictures on to the yearbook cd-rom - which I should be working on right now) with all of the photos during school, the last few days, and maybe even a few comparison photos of us in year 7 compared to us now. I said it before, its been a most memorable experience, one to be cherished (like, I’m going all soft on you here!). If you do wish to have a copy of any of the photos I have taken you have afew options. You can either purchase full page prints from me (approx. $5 on photo paper, price will be cheaper if others get involved), download them from the gallery, or ask me for full resolution images. If you want your photos listed in the gallery, let me know too.
I hope i’ve added most of you to MSN Messenger or at least gathered all of your email addresses so we can keep in touch and maybe organise some days out or something before our exams. (except for one who is grounded until two days before the exams hehe..). Out of all of the people I have met at school, I want to try and keep as good contact and communication with them. Feel free to talk to me whenever about whatever…
~ Chris

Well guys, i hate to tell you this but unfortunately that lost feeling isn’t going to get any easier. I’m now two years out of Port Hacking HS, living in Melbourne and doing the good ‘ol 9-5 job and i still wish i could wake up tomorrow and be back in school. Life was easier back then. But hey, change is always for the best -whether it seems it or not.
At the end of the day, you’ve all achieved something tremendous and i offer my congratulations to you all. Just remember: Ardentibus Nil Ardui - To Strive is to Achieve (that phrase is FINALLY meaningful!)

Ahh, school-life over? I wish mine would turn into express-mode, as I’m ready to get out of high school.
Matt (September 24th, 2004, 8:42 am)
Wooow yeah man.. Nostagia all around ey.. Grigg had a good point.. I guess we’ll all be needing to do our bit so that we all keep in contact cause its just setting into me that I’m not gonna see some people from school for a fair while.. It’s like EVERYONE in yr12 at PHHS is your family as pradeep said whether you like them all not.. Man I could blab on about that all day I reckon..
and almost :’( no joke!
Yesterday I was mixing two songs together for a friend - Time of your life by Greenday into the end of Dancing in the moonlight and the first few lines of time of your life just makes you go :S
If you would allow yourself to read these lyrics thinking about your friends and the wonderful time that we all had at Port Hacking:
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go.
So make the best of this test, and don’t ask why.
It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time.
It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind.
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time.
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial.
For what it’s worth, it was worth all the while.
It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
But don’t fret too much guys cause there is a lot ahead of us - New opportunities and such so just remember that whilst diving into the future we can still keep in contact with what we would now call our dearest friends and I hope we can do just that.
-Matt

The last few days have been crazy, probably some of the best. It’s sad that most of us will go our seperate ways and also that we can’t possibly know if anyone will keep in touch.
But I’m also looking forward to the future, nothing better then actually doing your own thing with your life instead of being blindly pushed towards a destination that was decided upon by everyone else.
