Ima Have IPod!

Ima Have IPod!Yeah, little Mr. Boulton finally bought himself a nice 15gb IPod. Why 15gb you ask? Data and space redundancy. Let me explain this a little more. If you were a 20gb or 40gb IPod and you’re owner never filled you to your complete capacity, how would you feel? Like a waste of space? Like you had been abused in some way or something? Like you’re a waste of resources? Well when I considered buying an IPod I weighed out my options – that the 15gb model was on sale for $399 AU, that I would never use the space, and the fact that with the 15gb model you get a “bonus package”. I was totally drawn in to the fact that it had been reduced down at work – which is something we have never done with the Apple IPod.

So please people, when you’re thinking of buying an IPod, think of the actual IPod and how it would feel to have all of this unused space on it! :(

The bonus package I received (well okay, its on raincheck – meaning the stock hasn’t come in yet but when it does come in I get it) contains the TuneCaster thingy to let you play your IPod in your car over the stereo or any other thing with FM reception, I also get a case, as well as this speaker connector thingy.. Did I also forget to mention to you that I also purchased the IPod dock (who can live without one!), and the USB2 connector (as my laptop sadly doesn’t have a firewire port).

I discovered soon after searching around the web that you can use the notes for pretty much everything and anything and people have even designed ‘Sync’ applications to sync things like RSS feeds, google news, the weather, movie times, outlook mail, contacts and practically anything else you need on demand and on hand wherever you are with your new bestest friend, the Apple IPod!

What Do I Do Online?

People sometimes ask me what I actually do online, as I am online a lot of the time. Well, i’m sorry to say that this post isn’t the answer to that question.

On MSN Messenger, I find myself having these weird conversations with friends sometimes. One contact in particular, *cough* wtbw *cough* and I speal out lyrics from songs – and the effect of this is one huge song which doesn’t make much sense at all. Today I decided I would create an even more interesting song by making sure I only chose love songs, and he seemed (with some of the weird music he listens to) to do the same. Below is our results. (His lyrics are in blue).

Disclamer: Don’t hold the choice of songs against me, this was done so it was going to be as sucky as possible.

Nothing lasts forever :(
I’m sorry I can’t be perfect
Now it’s just too late
And we can’t go back I’m sorry
I can’t be perfect..

Leave me alone
Just leave me alone
You like me to stroke you
Careful I don’t choke you, did you read my mind
You say don’t be blue
Us that the best you can do?
I’ve lost my patience now
Oh leave me alone.
Stop asking for more
I’m going home on my own…

Am I pretty enough for you
With a bit of make up I can look brand new
Can I be pretty enough for you
Fill me with secrets
I’ll never tell
Fatten my up my dear
And I will feed you well…

It’s you that I adore
You’ll always be my whore
You’ll be the mother to my child
And a child to my heart
I’ll pull your crooked teeth
You’ll be perfect just like me
You’ll be a lover in my bed
And a gun to my head
We must never be apart…

I just can’t help falling in love with you
Wise men say only fools rush in
I can’t help falling in love with you
Like a river flows
To the sea
So it goes
Something’s are meant to be
Take my hand
Take my whole life too…

I’ve become impossible
Holding on to when everything seemed to matter more
The two of us, all used and beaten up
Watching fate as it flows down the path we have chosen
You and me
We’re in this together now
None of them and stop us now
We will make it through somehow
You and me
If the world should break in two
Until the very end of me
Until the very end of you
All that we were is gone but we have to hold on…

Lord all mighty
I feel my temperature rising
Higher and higher
It’s burning through to my soul
Baby baby baby
You’re going to set me on fire
Cause your kisses lift me higher
It’s burning love!

I will never bother you
I will never promise to
I will never follow you
I will never bother you
Never speak a word again
I will crawl away for good
I will move away from here
You won’t be afraid of fear
No thought was put into this
Always knew it would come to this
Things have never been so swell
I have never failed to fail
Pain!
You know you’re right
I no longer have to hide
Let’s talk about someone else
Steaming soup begins to melt
Nothing really bothers her
She just wants to love himself

There is something that I see
In the way you look at me
There’s a smile
There’s a truth
In your eyes
Could it be that this is where I belong?
It is you I have loved all a long…

Exactly Two Years Ago..

On a distant planet called Earth, a little boy called surfichris (me) at the age of 15, two years ago today (16th July) made a breakthrough in the way that the MSN Messenger Tab’s work and are shown in MSN Messenger.

You can view the original thread here (on msnfanatic.com): http://www.msnfanatic.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1924&hl=

I like to believe that I am the one who inspired things like TabServ, and the general customisation of MSN Messenger tabs that are seen around today. (Moddest, yes – but hey?! thats a good thing!).

The tabs were (and still are) stored in an XML format on the Microsoft website, and the set of tabs you received were determined by which conuntry your MSN profile had.

And thats the way the cookie crumbles, errr… thats the way history unfolds!

Blind Man

More jokes are circulating around in the email – I figure this one was worth posting about! ;)

A blind man enters a Ladies Bar by mistake. He finds his way to a barstool and orders a drink. After sitting there for awhile, he yells to the bartender,

“Hey, you wanna hear a blonde joke?”

The bar immediately falls absolutely quiet. In a very deep, husky voice, the woman next to him says, “Before you tell that joke, sir, I think it is just fair – giving that you are blind – that you should know Five things:

1 – The bartender is a blonde girl.
2 – The bouncer is a blonde girl.
3 – I’m a 6 feet tall, 160 LB. blonde woman with a black belt in karate.
4 – The woman sitting next to me is blonde and is a professional weightlifter.
5 – The lady to your right is a blonde and is a professional wrestler.

Now think about it seriously, Mister. Do you still wanna tell that joke?”

The blind man thinks for a second, shakes his head, and declares,

“Nah, Not if I’m gonna have to explain it five times.”

CSS Based Design

We’re seeing many sites move to CSS based designs these days, mainly for the ease of editing and compatibility throughout all browsers.

I’ve only really recently picked up on using div tags and totally formatting the design with Cascading Stylesheets following the W3C standards for both XHTML and CSS.

I am yet to update this site to follow the W3C guidelines for these standards but this is something I do intend to look in to in the next couple of weeks or even for future designs.

The CSS Zen Garden is an awesome example of just how customisable everything is with CSS – It controls the complete layout, allowing changes to be made directly to the stylehseets and pretty much erradicating template systems.

There’s part two of a tutorial on using CSS and designing CSS based templates up on Verlee’s blog. This part of the article describes colour schemes and background image creation and the next part of the tutorial will focus on the actual framework and layout and eventually continuing on to attractive headers, titles and extra ornaments.

You’ve also got places like the CSS Vault on which users’ submit designs and redesigns of their site which follow the W3C guidelines and it is just amazing to see just how much effort, work and creativity goes into every design.

A perfect example of an attractive CSS based design is visible at SimpleBits. The HTML consists of really nothing but content, headings, and div’s. What drives the page is the CSS that Dan has written to create this powerful design.
