The Sun’ll Come Out Tomorrow..

The sun’ll come out tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on ’til tomorrow
Come what may!
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I Love Ya!
Tomorrow
You’re always a day away.

Erm wait, the production of Annie is over so why are these songs stuck in my head?! This is something that happens every year and lasts about two months, if not longer.. Annie was a great musical and the role of Annie herself was casted very well. According to some members of the audience on different nights the male side of the casting was not terribly well and lacking in male talent. This is perhaps that most of the male talent at our school is either not interested, has other things that they are involved with, or are in year 12 and not allowed to participate.

I’ve had a great past three weeks during the production, with my role kind of developing as more of a “technical” director instead of just sound engineer. I found myself offering advice on what can and can’t work, what’s possible, and just every other situation to the director and the student directors.. They took my advice too and the end result was somewhat pleasing.

Oh, you won’t be an orphan…
No, you won’t be an orphan for long!

Throughout the whole duration I was only able to take two pictures, and they were on the closing day for the kids at school.. They probably aren’t the best either because I was trying to do numerous other things whilst using the camera.

I, personally would like to thank everyone for their involvement in this years musical - a great job was done!

As this year was my last, I do hope that in the future I may be bought back as some sort of advisor because its always fun to see our schools’ productions being put together and being ran.

Been Hiding

I’ve been living in a shoe box recently… Well not actually a shoe box but my life has kind of been like a pair of shoes recently, being run in, run around, and maybe even abused sometimes. Life as a shoe isn’t pretty interesting so if you’re thinking of moving into a shoe box and changing your profession to a piece of footwear then I probably wouldnt bother with it because it is not worth it. I’ve been very busy lately especially with our schools musical this year, Annie. Annie is the story of a young orphan who is out to seek her real mother and father, only accompanied by a locket which contains pictures of them. She is adopted by Warbucks and Grace, being taken out of the hands of the evil Miss Hannigan. The production staged in our school auditorium is fairly large and contains a large number of technical crew, stage crew, cast, and the pit orchestra. I myself am involved in the technical runtime of the musical such as the sound engineering. This has been a fairly comprehensive production to put together with the little resources that we have. The musical has been fairly well casted this year too, leaving only a few spaces for improvement in both the singing and dance components of the musical. I’ll be uploading some photos from the production at a later stage and fullsize prints through Kodak Imaging will also be available.

Mozilla Firefox 0.9 has also been officially released boasting new the new Extension Manager as well as a new style designed by HicksDesign as well as many other new and interesting features making Firefox (by my opinion) the best web browser for the internet experience.

I’m out for now, see you around! :D

Sun-Earth Day 2004 Venus Transit

Venus Transit @ Nasa

Venus Transit

There I was sitting down at complete loss of what I was supposed to be doing this afternoon, or more specifically what I was supposed to be looking at. I read about the Venus Transit last night while searching around and reading the general space news (Which really interests me by the way :)). After I had realised that I had completely forgot about it I ran outside (stupid of me yes) thinking I would see it. Intelligence struck again!. I whipped back inside and remembered a live stream that had been setup by Nasa so I tried to tune into it except the server was too busy.. Damn!

The Venus Transit is a very rare occurance as Venus passes right through the sun. The last time this happened was approximately 1882, and it will apparently happen again in 2012, and then not again until 100 years later.. I guess I will have to try and take a glimpse at its next time around then.
Oh well, I guess I missed it..

There is a picture here which looks pretty amazing.. I wish I had caught it.. :(

MyBB Moved

As you may have already read on mybboard.com, MyBB has moved servers. We have also lost two of our team members, Laslo - a fellow developer as well as the dude which managed our previous server (He is awesome by the way!), as well as Dreamer - a new recruit to the team, involved in the bug reporting area she did an excellent job. MyBB wouldn’t be anywhere near the stage it is now without them.

I have also put up Release Candidate 3 for public preview on the Community Forums if anyone is interested at taking a peak at whats in store for this new release.

I guess I just forgot to post about this.. Oh well, its here now! :)

I am corrupt!

According to this ‘article’ which is another ‘MPZ’ article myself and the rest of the #msgplus [irc.msgplus.net] channel are corrupt! :-o

I was shocked by these accusations made by Mr. Dane Smith. For starters he has blown the whole thing WAY out of proportion and he doesn’t even listen to reason. Although I may have gone over the top and abused him a bit, he did the same for me. Mr. Smith posted several logs on his website with had obviously been edited to cut out certain parts to make me look like more of a fool than I actually am. Mr. Smith has been informed that it is illegal to post conversation logs without prior permission and he has currently removed them from that page.

The very way that Mr. Smith has dealt with this manner is very unprofessional on his behalf. He is trying to go around running a professional set of forums and he posts rubbish like this on them? A one sided and self centered article. If he was any kind of decent person he wouldn’t have actually published an article like this and actually tried resolving things and if he couldn’t resolve things then he could have left the server.

Before I start criticising this article of his again, lets get started by pointing out there is no we in relation to the Messenger Plus! Zone. It is a one person army who tries to run the show and boss people around, not stand his place and listen.

There is no corruption in #msgplus unless you are specifically talking about Mr. Dane Smith himself.

ince when is spamming alright and since when is it ever accepted as being alright? As someone who manages forums and a website he should have already know that it wasn’t acceptable but yet, he did it anyway. Apparently the ’spamming’ was set off by a timer and he blames not being able to stop it on the fact that he doesn’t know how to disable them. If he made the timer in the first place, shouldn’t he know how to stop it? Exactly. Apparently we ban for 5 minutes for this type of offence but myself nor the rest of the channel staff or IRC operators know about this rule. Mr. Smith made it up to actually cover himself so we would be made out as the ‘bad guys’.

I cannot deny that I did not say “wtf were you doing spamming?” because i was annoyed that a member who was so against spam and bad behavior in the first place actually spammed the channel! Especially considering his history with other users in the channel! He didn’t apologize to me without me continuing the matter. He denied it and blamed it back on the fact that no one had told him. Segosa’s actions were not out of line. He has every right to say what he thinks and as this spam was coming from a channel Half-op, necessary action and punishment would have to be taken out.

I was furiously angry that morning about the whole situation that Mr Smith had once again gotten away with non-sense and server abuse. What Dane also forgot to mention is that he was banned from the channel due to once again bringing the argument up after he was told to drop it. Pipish never said anything that remotely resembles that either, which just shows how much of a cock-up situation this actually is and that Mr. Smith will go to any length to try and get other users punished for his own actions.

But hang on Mr. Smith, you said DXtremz has no control over the server, if that’s true then exactly how is he supposed to fix anything thats going wrong? Mr. Smith has also abused DXtremz numerous times by calling him a bad server administrator because he does not put IRC over his life. What kind of person would place more importance over an IRC server than there own life? DXtremz is a good friend of mine and it is not nice to see your friends or yourself getting publicly bashed like this.

Regarding the matter that all IRC Operator decisions are final.. These are the rules that you are bound to when connecting to the IRC server in the first place. If he doesn’t like that fact then he shouldn’t have connected in the first place. DXtremz places a lot of trust, importance and respect into the IRC Operators he has chosen and he expects them to do their job in methods which they find necessary.

You see, when Mr. Smith does not get his way with something or he doesn’t like a decision that has been made he will always whinge and complain to DXtremz. If DXtremz agrees with a decision or ruling that has been made against Mr. Smith then he will simply go to Patchou and complain until he does actually get his way. This isn’t the first time that this has happened, it happens ALL the time whenever something is happening in #msgplus.

So going back over this you can see that Mr. Smith has actually stepped across the boundary and is actually trying to control the server, take charge and force actions upon other users. He needs to get back down of his high-horse and accept any punishment that is given to him from an IRC operator.

Patchou had given Mr. Smith until midnight tonight to remove this article from his server however Mr. Smith has not complied with these requests and as a consequence his site will be unlisted from the Messenger Plus! website. His account on the Messenger Plus! forums has also been locked and his license for using MyBB on his server has also been revoked in regard to this matter.

There is a lot more to this, and I will continue to write more later.

You can all forward you hate-mail as well as email your disgust on the way Mr. Smith has publicised this article to msgpluszone@msgpluszone.com.
