I blogged yesterday (maybe the day before) about Google’s new service Gmail being an april fools joke. Apparently, it appears that it is not.
Google representatives downplayed the strategic significance of the move, painting the new Gmail service as a search-based e-mail application that offers a natural extension to the company’s primary focus on organizing information. Nevertheless, analysts said Gmail likely heralds a broad expansion of Google’s business and is a clear shot across the bows of rivals Yahoo and Microsoft.

Yeah, I read about it. It’s incredible… Google must have massive amounts of disk space. (I heard they are using Apple Xserves, but I’m not sure).

There’s been a big fuss by one of our british papers because gmail will have ads targeted based on the content of your email. Kinda spooky.
