Patchou has finally released the Messenger Plus! 3.0 Beta to us lucky testers.

All i can say is that i am very impressed with how much work has gone into this, and you can see just how dedicated this man is to what he does and to his users.

GFD has also done a great job on the redesign of the software including all new graphics..

3.0 is better than ever, and alot easier to use for new versions, allowing all the control that was previously possible.. and more!

Birthday!

Well, as some of you know, today is my birthday!

I was woken up at about 7am by the wonderful Kylie, to wish her boy a happy birthday and a great day.. And that she misses me :’(. Then i received another message from someone at work at about 7:30am.. And then from someone else at school..

I signed onto MSN Messenger this morning (at around 7:40am my time) and was greeted with about 6 different birthday wishes! Some from people I would have never expected them from!

Then i joined #msgplus, and let slip that it was my birthday.. One K-Line later the topic was changed to: Welcome to the Messenger Plus! Support Channel – Please be patient when asking for support – English only! Don’t ask to ask, just ask! =) Flood Kick limit has been changed, from now on use #paste :) Happy Birthday Surfi! <- =o happy bday

Then came school, more birthday wishes! The whole day as well! Someone leaked out it was my birthday.. although it turned out to be a good thing.

Got afew more after school as well, on the internet (Underlord, Mippo, st0rm, Matt L).

So far i have had a good day..

My Lord of the Rings silver ring is still on order though, and my camera is apparently being purchased by my father as he leaves work for the day (along with 128mb of extra memory!).

I also received from Matty D on the weekend, a bucket full of jelly, and a box of Krispy Kreme donuts (or doughnuts as us Aussies spell it). Ky apparently has my present worked out but wont give me any hints, and I wont get it until Thursday because thats when i see her next…

..Thanks everyone!

This has to be the biggest act of stupidity i have seen in a LONG time on the internet:

LESBIAN university student Rosie Reid, 18, who auctioned her virginity on the Internet to pay for her studies, has had sex with the highest bidder.

Ms Reid slept with a divorced father-of-two, 44, after he paid her $20,500, the News of the World reports.

“It was horrible. . . I felt nervous and scared,” she said. She hatched the plan to avoid graduating from university with debts of $36,700

I saw a link to an article about this on another site, however it did not work. Underlord gave me the following link: here (BBC Link: here)

Just another thing

All the time, after my English lessons at school I catch up on Matty D with the latest happenings in his class, usually involving stupid things that someone said.. to hightlight todays..

“Hayley, did you know that steel wool comes from sheep?”
“Yeah i know”

- Apparently the class broke out laughing, I know I would have as well if I were there, oh, and last week the same girl also said

“I thought Ayres Rock was as big as this classroom..”

Reformatting

Reformatting your machine can be a huge pain in the rear-end. This is something i decided to do on Friday afternoon (due to my 3.06ghz laptop running like an absolute bus). It involved first of all backing up around 50gb of data to my other computers, flash drive, dvd’s and i even ended up resizing partitions on this drive to give myself somewhere to temporarily store things i needed.

Its now Monday, and i am still to restore alot of my programs. I’m not sure why I haven’t, I think its just a lack of effort on my behalf to try and find the CD’s for all of this software, then go through the long and enduring process of installing everything, restoring my preferences etc etc.

However, I am happy to report that I am back up and running again and my laptop is now running at the speeds it should be – without all of those rubbishy Toshiba applications as well..

Killed two birds with one stone.. or..
Fed two dogs with one bone.

And in the news..

Scientists have discovered what may appear to be the tenth planet in our solar system.

Apple’s online Music Store, iTunes, has hit 50 million online music download sales, with estimates of 2.5 million songs being downloaded each week.

The Linux Kernel 2.6.4 has been released. Apparently it fixes afew small bugs found since RC3. This is the latest stable kernel. View Changelog

If you’re interested in what Microsoft plans to add to Windows XP Service Pack 2, then this article should be an interesting read for you.

Links between Microsoft and the SCO Group have been discovered. This shows Microsoft may be scared of the Linux competition.

Incase you havent noticed either, there is now a Gallery link at the top. Here i plan to showcase some of my work, and also upload some of my photo’s from my new camera which i will be ordering sometime this week. I have also added a “Articles” page which will contain any writings i have written.

Well.. Internet access was down the whole weekend (dialup ). Although I am happy to report that negotiations for OptusCable with my parents have begun and so far the score is surfi = 1 parents = 0.

I actually worked the entire weekend (full days both Saturday and Sunday) anyways so there wouldn’t have been much time for me to actually fiddle around with the blog.

Today brings several updates to the blog – several addons I have written for bBlog, as well as some changes to the templates to include new links. You’ll be able to get all of my modifications at a later stage.

Today was a stinker here, with the temperatures way into the 30’s. Whats worse was that I actually had school, and that there is no air conditioning in ANY of the rooms including our IPT (Information Processes and Technology) rooms.. It was torture.

Now back to the weekend, I actually had one of the best weekends ever! Not that I actually did much, but some things happened.. Some of you may know and others may not. If you don’t consider yourself left outside the loop.

I’ll do the news round up later once I have finished playing with bBlog some more.. :)

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, things in my life have just became very busy (I will explain why in a more detailed manner later).

If you do however get bored and want to have a chat, or you are a fan of irc you can find me at

I am usually in #msgplus, #banana, #Lobby and #help for anyone trying to scout me out.

Got Storage?! – If you dont already have enough, try this on for size.. Hitachi unveiled the first 300gb hard drive for storing enterprise level data.

Analogik has discovered a true rate occurance at MYER Centre bus station terminal (Brisbane, Australia). It appears that they are still using a Commodore 64 for informing travelling people in the 21st century.

Kartoo is a new meta search engine with visual display interfaces (based in flash).. It looks fairly nice but i think i will be sticking to google for now ;) .

Are you ready to Reload XP?. It appears that Microsoft are releasing a new version of Windows XP (dubbed ‘Reloaded’) scheduled before the release of Windows Longhorn.

There is an interesting article about Ad-aware vs Spybot S&D posted on Flexbeta. It compares the two after installing 28 adware and spyware packed applications.

Just noticed this, but Winzip 9.0 is now released.. Worth the download as lots of new features have been added and plenty of bugs have been fixed.

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King has taken home a record-tying 11 oscar awards, taking best picture and sweeping all of its categories.

Anyway, i think its just about time for bed.. So good evening and good night all.. :)
